If You Want Something Done, Go To The Source.posted on 18 May 2012 in Cars and TransportMy daughter turns 18 next month. She has been hounding me to get her license. I told her she had to wait until she was 18. Her father is planning on giving her a car for her birthday. I decided as a present for her I would make an appointment for her to take the test. I had a heck of a time just trying to find the driving test telephone number. I work 8 to 5 everyday. So I really only have my lunch hour to call for an appointment. The first two days I sat at my desk and ate my lunch and was kept on hold. I think every parent in the world is doing the same thing. Graduations and birthdays are huge in June. I finally decided to go to my boss and take the day off. I would take my daughter right down first thing in the morning telling her I am taking her out for breakfast. The office opened at eight o'clock. We were there at right at eight o'clock and there was already a line. We finally got out of there by noon. She took her written test and passed. We had to wait until 11 for her to do the driving part of the test. I took her out for lunch as a celebration. She didn't have any idea that her dad had the new car in the driveway with a huge red ribbon. Other Sources: apple.com | babble.com | www.motoringhelpline.com |

Food traditions in native regions of UKposted on 12 May 2012 in Food and DrinkIn native regions of the UK foods that are eaten are mainly grown by the locals. The foods that are eaten in these regions do not include processed food as is the norm in the urban regions of the UK. Native foods in the UK include corn which is used to make bread and pastries while vegetables have a prominence in the foods that are eaten in these native regions. Another of the prominent foods is hog roasts in the Midlands and these are made from pork meat. At least in very home in the native Midlands region there has to be pig rearing as hog roasts are cultural delicacies. Traditional eating methods vary from one native region of the UK to another. In some regions food can be eaten casually with no formalities while in the aristocratic regions meals are eaten at the table and with all necessary cutleries present. From the time children are young they are taught proper eating mannerisms which should be practised at all times whether in private or in the midst of other people. When I Was Ten, Hoola Hoops Were All The Rageposted on 10 May 2012 in Toys and GamesHoola Hoops were all the rage in the summer of 1958. Most of the girls in our neighborhood owned one. We were constantly playing with them everyday, learning new techniques on how to use them. We would spin the hoop out so that it would come back to us, much like a boomerang. It was one of the original traditional toys that came from our era and we loved playing with it. It was much different then than today - where my grandson has all these sophisticated remote control toys and whatnot. We would start twirling them at the ankles and work them all the way up our bodies till we had it spinning on one finger, then back down to the ground. We would jump them like jump ropes. We turned out to be good with them actually that we decided to enter a contest that was being held on Main Street. We could not wait till that day when we could show off our tricks and expertise. When the day finally arrived, we clamored out of the house and up the street to the center of town. There were all kinds of competitors there with every color of Hoola Hoop you could imagine. One by one, each child tried to prove that they were the best. In the end, I remember that my best friend had won the contest. I was disappointed that I did not win, but was happy for her. Make a decision once and never look backposted on 6 May 2012 in Business and FinanceLife does go on when one has decided to move on. That decision alone is enough to change things and make them different from how they used to be. It is a person who decided on their own about what they want to do about something. After they have been told why outsource is good for them, they will make the final decision about it and see if they can take the road that has opened before them. If they are not ready then they will have to wait longer for things to settle down then they make their move. You better something once and for all than wait till it is too late to do it. Make a decision once after careful thought and make sure that you will not change your mind about it later. Before you decide that you want to follow this route, you should have a plan of the things that you want done before the decision is made and after it is made. Just ensure that everything is set because if they are not then you will face some trouble yourself. |

Gardening As a Family and Becoming Self-sufficientposted on 5 May 2012 in Holiday and TravelMy family has discussed starting a garden in our back yard for some time now. We already enjoy our garden - we've made what I would describe as one of those gazebos under which we love to admire our garden and put the world to rights. One month each summer we rent a french farmhouse and so we kind of have two gardens to look after - and I draw a lot of inspiration from my French garden. We love the idea of having fresh fruits and vegetables to include in our diet, and we are also intrigued by the idea that a garden would allow our family to be partially self-sufficient. Another bonus is that a garden would teach our children responsibility and the value of hard work. It is important for them to understand that they can have an impact on the world around them. In addition, a garden would give us all a reason to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors as a family. My favorite fruit is a tomato, so I intend to start with a few tomato plants and then branch out from there. Ideally, I would also love to include cucumbers, zucchini, and eggplant, although I'm not sure yet how difficult any of these plants would be to grow. I do know that I can't wait to give it a try! |

Telecommunications companies are taking advantage of internet phone accessposted on 26 April 2012 in Internet RelatedI believe that telecommunications companies are getting more than their fair share of returns after the recent upsurge in the use of mobile internet. These companies that provide tariffs for internet phone connections have not hesitated to hike their charges knowing very well that phone users have to go to the internet no matter the cost that comes after. I was buying a mobile phone from a telecommunications shop and the customer next to me had just flown into the country therefore she was not aware of the tariff charges for phone browsing. I watched as the attendant gave her a list of the most expensive charges and this customer went ahead and bought the data bundles at four times the price that they were worth. I could not sit quiet is I called the customer aside and told her that she was being conned. This is a scenario that I can bet is happening in all stores that are owned by different telecommunications companies. Phone users have to keep on topping up their data bundles as high tariffs eat them all up in a matter of minutes. |

Nothing Good Will Come Where You Are!posted on 24 April 2012 in Home and GardenThere is no single job out there that is simple and easy unless the jobs that pay less money. If you want to be paid more, then you need to go out there and get a real job, a job which you will work hard to deserve a pay. When Jim heard about this, he went and took a job in a construction company to do roof tiling. He was not an architect at all, but he was willing to learn as much as he could because he was sure that through hard work, he will get the pay he deserved in his life. He always believed that he was good enough to be paid so much money. Three years down the line, you can see clearly how successful the guy has become. He has his own home, a good car and a well catered for family all thanks to his hard work. Those people who do not like getting tired will never develop themselves because they will settle for the least pay while their counterparts are getting three or four times more through their hard work. |

Sometimes You Have To Just Let Young Ones Do Their Own Thing As They Will Anyway!posted on 22 April 2012 in Cars and TransportMy Daughter has just passed her theory test and she was absolutely delighted as we all were for her. She is continuing with her driving lessons until the driving instructor thinks she should put in to Book Driving Test. She is surprised that she passed it as there is so much information to digest and she was not very confident that she knew enough to pass it but she did! It has gave her such a boost by passing it so now she is eager to get through her driving practical test so that she is able to get her little car on the road to be able to use it for her new college course in September. I have told her not to rush in to the test as she really needs to have lots of experience with driving before she is ready bit you know how impatient some youngsters can be these days! I said the more experience she has in the car, the more chance she will have of passing the test first time but I don't think she will listen to me too much as she is so keen! |

Weekend Mornings Would Be a Joy In My Breakfast Nookposted on 1 April 2012 in Construction and IndustrialI work for a flat roofing company and so I'm forever planning improvements for my own home. If I could change anything in my house I would add a breakfast nook in the kitchen. A breakfast nook is a small place for a table and chairs in one corner of the kitchen where a person or family can have an informal meal. Mine would be like a picnic table with benches and would be in a corner of the kitchen that gets the sun in the morning. I would have to make a small extension on the kitchen which would take away some of my patio space. Why do I want this so badly? On weekends I love to have my breakfast in a sunny spot while I am reading the morning paper or listening to National Public Radio or the BBC on my shortwave radio. While I was looking for a house a breakfast nook was on the list of things I wanted, but, a person cannot have everything and compromises had to be made. Now that my mortgage is almost paid I can start thinking about this project. |

Coffee Shops are Perfect Workplaces for People like Meposted on 29 March 2012 in Home and GardenThere are a lot of coffee shops in town to go to in case you are like me who prefers to work outside of the comforts of their home then the selection of coffee shops in town would come in handy. When I first started working full time as an online freelancer I used to be holed up inside the house working 16 hours at most that my friends have started calling me a hermit. Thinking about brought back memories of my first assignment which got me very excited to the point of my hands shaking it has something to do with a write up on single ply roofer. Although it took me a while to get the first one done I was able to finish it way before the deadline and my client was more than happy with the outputs I had produced. Satisfied to the point where after 2 years of working full time on several projects I still have this client and our relationship is as strong as ever and I most definitely look forward to many more years of it. |

Why Rose Wants a Day Job Nowposted on 20 March 2012 in TechnologyRose, this is Ana Perez. I am not sure if you still remember me, but I called you earlier to ask about my phone. You referred me to samsung help line number but for some reasons, I could not get through. I attempted several times, but still to no avail. What should I do now? Rose is a call center agent for Samsung. Phone calls of this nature are not new to her. In fact, she gets these calls every single day. Rose is grateful that she has a steady job. She is well aware that a lot of people out there would do anything just to be in her position. But working at night is something that she detests. Although working in shifts is fast becoming popular these days, Rose still prefers a regular day job. She has in fact tried to apply several times but has not been so lucky yet. Aside from the schedule, Rose knows that every time she goes out to work, she leaves her mom worried and she doesn't like that. |

Recounting that Special First Trip to the Dentistposted on 16 March 2012 in Health and BeautyMy first trip to the dentist was a frightening time for me after hearing all the stories my friends told me. I sat in the waiting room nervously flicking through a magazine. You see back then, we never had the information we had now, nor did dentists have the technology they have now. A search for cheap dental implants london online can allay a lot of fears as you read about pain management and the like online. Back to when I was a kid at the dentist, the people in front of me got their names called by the assistant and disappeared through a doorway into another room. There were strange sounds of drilling and cracking coming from the room, this didn’t do my nerves any good. Finally my name was called and I slowly got up, thinking about running for it, I entered the room and was met by a smiling man who introduced himself as John. He asked me to sit in the dentist chair and made sure I was comfortable. He made me feel at ease straight away and asked me to look up at the ceiling where there were pictures painted on the ceiling. He proceeded to check all my teeth one by one and called out there condition to his assistant. There was one back tooth that needed to be filled. I was given an injection into my gum and was sent back to the waiting room for about five minutes for the anaesthetic to take affect. My jaw became numb and I started to dribble out of one side of my mouth. I was asked to go back to the room by the dentist’s pretty assistant. When I was comfortable in the chair the dentist proceeded to drill the bad bit from my tooth. The noise was terrible but there was no pain. He then filled the drilled out hole with special liquid metal. I washed out my mouth and spat in the basin. My mouth was still a bit numb. My first trip to the dentist was over and I was no longer terrified of going to get my teeth fixed. |

The Dentist Is a Not So Scary Placeposted on 14 March 2012 in Health and BeautyI have a real phobia of the dentist. I have always found it painful and really uncomfortable going to get my teeth checked. I have trouble breathing when the dentist is cleaning and polishing my teeth, so it's something I like to avoid. Before Christmas last year, I started getting really bad pains in a number of my teeth and I had no choice but to go. I searched online for a dentist - I think I used the keywords dental implants essex, and found one. I arranged an appointment and went apprehensively. I had to wait 15 minutes in reception as the machine had malfunctioned or something, not a great start! When I did get seen eventually, I must admit it was nowhere near as bad as I had remembered. Within 20 minutes my check up was over and I was apparently on my way to improving. So if you are like me when it comes to the dentist, maybe it's time to reconsider! Teeth are important and without them, things would be much more difficult, like eating! |

The Easiest Ways to Save a Little Extra Moneyposted on 9 March 2012 in Business and FinanceI love reading financial investment advice online and finance blogs in general - the information I read allows me to better manage my own money. Saving money is not a very hard thing to do. First you have to look where you spend the most of your money. For most people, that is shopping for groceries. The best tip I can give you is to buy in bulk. That way you don't have to go shopping as much, you save gas and get extra free time. Also when shopping for groceries try to buy as much generics as possible. The expensive brands aren't really worth the extra money. Another good tip is to prepare your own meals rather than going out. This way you also know exactly what you are eating, how the food was prepared and you brush up on your cooking skills. This also includes preparing your own cup of coffee rather than buying one in a coffee shop. Another plus side of staying in more is that the tip, you would normally give to the waiter, is now yours. |

Some of the Frustrations that are Encountered When Working in an Officeposted on 9 March 2012 in Business and FinanceMost of us have worked in an office at some point in our lives. I have worked in them for most of my working life so I have a fair idea of what they are like and the frustrations that can be encountered working in them. The main problem I've found is that systems are often designed by someone in a management position and the impact and work flow is not thought about enough on the user end. Certainly the management could do with some performance coaching in my opinion. Whether it is bureaucracy or simply a misguided decision by someone not familiar with actually doing the work, the jobs nearly always could be improved if the management did the job for themselves to see what the work flow is like. Unfortunately, I have found that managers are usually reluctant, to say the least, to do this and the result is poor systems which are a hassle to use and are much slower than they could be. The only way around this is to try to talk to the management to see if they are open to your suggestions. Hopefully they will listen and accept some of the changes you propose. |

Top Agent for the Past Three Monthsposted on 8 March 2012 in Business and FinanceBeing a top agent out of 3,500 agents in the production floor is a big accomplishment. It is something to be proud of not to mention you get a certificate, several gift certificates and a performance bonus. For the past three consecutive months now Erica has held the title of top agent. Her scorecard is just perfect and almost every agent in the floor wonders what her secret is. It is even safe to say that quite a lot are jealous of her especially since the performance bonus is quite big. Since she has been the reigning queen for the past couple of months one of the team leaders actually asked her to come up with a PowerPoint presentation on improving inbound call handling time. This is one of the tough metrics to meet on the score card and a majority of the agents both tenured and new are having a hard time meeting the target. Erica asked for a week to come up with it and by next week all agents should be receiving a copy of it via email. |
